New Blog: Simple, leightweight, lightning fast 04.05.2022

I'm a software engineer with my heart and infrastructure stuff is my sidekick. However as usual, documentation is not my favourite task, it's priority is somewhere right behind vacuuming the server room. So, I very often have to admit that I have to redo things from scratch, which I did years ago. Improvise, adapt overcome - so I decided to start this blog. Sharing knownledge is a good thing, and explaining things in detail is a rocksolid documentation anyway.

I hope some of you guys enjoy my posts, and even if you don't - that's my documentation, tho ;-)

My posts will be english most the time, just because everything I do - programming, infrastructure, gaming - is english, so blogging in german would require to translate a lot of stuff, which can be ommited.

I was searching for a nice engine to run my blog, but I wasn't happy with the overall performance of available solutions. Lot of plugins, filters, gimmiks and options slow things down, while all I need is basically a text-area and some markup.

So I decided to quicky develop the required system that I need - vanilla html with a bunch of inline css and php gives me all the options I ever would need. The result is not a blog loading 1500 ms until all the adds, filters, plugins and things are processed - it's a rapid rocket, measuring around 100 ms ttfb - which is nice if you ask me.

Slowest thing here is now actually finding my side (dns) and starting the ssl-handshake(s).

I hope some of you guys enjoy my posts, and even if you don't - that's my documentation, tho ;-)
